OUR STORY

About Us

50 Pictures is a team of TV and radio professionals who used to think that the secret to great content was the best kit, the biggest budgets, and a famous face or two.

We were wrong.
You don’t earn attention by being the loudest, the most famous, or the one who splashes the most cash. You get results by telling stories that solve problems for people, organisations, and the occasional horse.
Our Team
At the heart of 50 Pictures is a core team that believes that marketing should never feel like marketing - it should feel like a Damn Good Story.

So we bring decades of story-finding experience and storytelling expertise - for the BBC, Netflix, CNN, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, ZDF, ARTE, and National Geographic - to every project.

Around us is a wider family of trusted freelancers - a nimble, hand-picked crew - with specialist research, production, and post-production skills.

We’re all dedicated to telling Damn Good Stories - knowing that the best stories are found in real life.
  • Matthew Wheeler
    Plot-Thickener-in-Chief
From historical epics to travelogues, Matthew has scripted, produced, and directed hundreds of hours of story-driven TV and radio, and now uses all of that know-how to help organisations turn strategy into story. He brings editorial sharpness, creative calm, a knack for finding the remarkable story hiding in plain sight, and a mix of healthy but filling snacks to every project.
  • Rob Miller
    Narrative Precision Officer
A storytelling craftsman with a razor-sharp eye for detail - with his glasses on - Rob has cut everything from feature films to award-winning TV series like Dispatches and Who Do You Think You Are? As a mentor and trainer, Rob helps the next generation of filmmakers sharpen their craft and, as a member of BAFTA, encourages and champions stories that deserve to be seen.
  • Christopher Bobyn
    Story Extraction Specialist
A globe-trotting filmmaker with a reporter’s instinct and a documentarian’s eye, Christopher has spent two decades capturing complex stories on camera - from the streets of Cairo during the Arab Spring to the frontlines of Ukraine. Whatever the language, whatever the continent, Christopher knows how to keep calm and carry on chasing and capturing a story.

Lynette keeps every story on track. With a background in radio, healthcare, and corporate governance, she brings order, organisation, and attention to every detail.
